Start-up of the device/introduction

• Readtheoperatinginstructionsthoroughlybeforethe

start-up!

• Selectanappropriatelocationforthedevice,e.g.adry,

ﬂat, non-slip surface on which the device can be easily

operated.

• Makesurethatthedeviceisadequatelyventilated!

• Removetheprotectivelmfromthedisplay,ifstillat-

tached.

Power supply

• Connecttheadaptertoaproperlyinstalledisolated

ground receptacle of 230 V, 50 Hz. Connect the device

with the plug connector by inserting its plug into the DC

IN 13.5 V jack of the device.

• Makesurethegridvoltagecorrespondstothegureson

the rating plate.

CAUTION:

• TheincludedACadaptermayonlybeusedwiththis

device. Do not use it for other devices.

• UseonlyanACadapterwith13.5V(

). A differ-

ent AC adapter may damage the unit.

NOTE:

Disconnect from mains power supply during longer periods

of non-use.

Inserting the Batteries (Batteries not supplied)

• Openthebatterycompartmentcoverontherear.

• Insert10batteriesoftypeUM1/R201.5V.Pleaseensure

that the polarity is correct (see battery compartment

cover)!

• Ifthedeviceisnotusedforalongperiodoftime,remove

the batteries to avoid the spilling of battery acid.

• Thenclosethebatterylid.

CAUTION:

• Batteriesarenottobedisposedoftogetherwith

domestic wastes. Dispose of the used batteries at the

relevant collection bin or at your dealer’s.

• Differentbatterytypesornewandusedbatteriesmust

not be used together.

WARNING:

Donotexposebatteriestoextremeheat,suchassunlight,

ﬁre or similar. Danger of explosion!

NOTE:

The battery operation will be disconnected automatically

once the adapter is connected.

CD deck transport protection

• PleaseopentheCDcompartment(3)bypressingthe

OPEN button (2).

• RemovethetransportprotectionfromtheCDplayerif

present before use.

PHONES eadphone Socket (26)

Pleaseuseheadphoneswitha3.5mmstereojackplug;these

should be inserted into the socket. The loudspeakers are

then switched off.

BBS switch (23)

Serves for amplifying the bass.

= on, = off.

Volume

The desired volume can be sent using the VOLUME regula-

tor (1).

Switch-off

The machine is switched off when the function selector

switch (24) is turned to the AUX/TAPE position. You may then

unplug the adapter.

NOTE:

Afterapprox.15minuteswithoutanyinputsignal,theap-

pliance will automatically switch to standby mode. Press the

PLAY/PAUSE button (25) to re-activate the device.
